Here are some pictures from my garden this morning. It's looking pretty good. Sometimes you'll see some drooping from "transplant shock". But everything seems to be doing well. I'm so excited! Grow little veggeis GROW!

Found some!
I found some Tomatillo plants at Home Depot today. In addition, I picked up some Ice Box Watermelon plants for the last few spots I had in my garden. I got those planted this evening. I also planted some Marigolds to help deter insects. I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
PLANTING DAY!!!!!
Today is planting day! I just got through planting my Straw Bale garden.
We have...
2- Parks Whopper Tomato Plants
2- Roma Tomato Plants
2- Zucchini
2- Yellow Squash
2- Burpless Cucumbers
2- Pablano Plants
1- Jalapeno Plant
2- Cilantro
2- Basil
1- German Thyme
1- Oregano
I'm still looking to plant at least 2 Tomatillo Plants. They had them at Lowe's last week and now they are gone. They even restocked their plant yesterday afternoon and there aren't any Tomatillos. :(
I also have room for 1 more thing. I'm thinking about doing the small watermelons or maybe some canteloupes. I'll post some pictures as soon as they get through getting a good soaking.

Today was Day 4 of prepping my Straw Bale Garden
After 3 days of soaking, now is the time to start putting fertilizer on your straw bales. You can choose any organic fertilizer you like. Try to go with one that is high in Nitrogen. You use about 1/2 cup per bale for days 4-6 and then you'll cut it in half for days 7-9. You then switch to a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer for day 10 and on day 11 we PLANT!
I'm getting excited and really ready to get on with the planting stage.
WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!

Just had to share this one...
A friend of mine shared the BEST banana bread recipe I've ever tasted. (Thanks TJ!) I had some sweet potatoes and decided to adapt the recipe to use them up. I've included the banana bread recipe and my Sweet Potato Bread recipe below.

We're on our way!!
We went yesterday and got our Wheat Straw bales in Hattiesburg. I have them set up in the backyard.
I went to Lowe's today and looked at plants. I'm thinking we'll do Tomato, Big Boys and Romas. Tomatillos, Pablano peppers, Jalapeno Peppers, Squash, Cukes, maybe some Melons and some Marigolds to help keep the bugs away.
And the soaking has begun!
They'll get a good soaking daily for the next 10 days. They'll heat up from the composting.
Once they've cooled off, we'll start planting.

Adventures in Gardening
With the cost of food rising, I really want to try my hand at a garden this summer. My grandparents always had a HUGE garden and I grew up with the benefits of fresh corn, beans, peas, watermelons and canteloupes etc... Now we don't live in a area that would allow us to plant a huge garden like my grandparents have and I really don't have the equipment to dig one up. However, in my wonderings of the internet one day, I found an article about Straw Bale gardening. You can't use pine straw or hay, so it means searching for wheat or oat straw bales. In my search, I've found you can't find wheat straw bales on the gulf coast. However, I've found a place up in Hattiesburg that sells them for $5.50 a bale. Next weekend I plan to make a trip to Hattiesburg with the trailer and pick up about 10 bales to start my garden. Now to decide what to plant...
I hope to keep a running journal of our Adventures in Gardening. Hopefully I'll be better at it than I've been lately.

What are YOU passionate about?
Me, I'm passionate about Adoption and Infertility. Both of these things not only take an emotional/physical toll on the people involved, but they take a huge financial toll. I want to be able to help these people achieve their dreams.
Now, who else has thought of the idea to help people register their own personalized website to raise awareness and funds for their favorite charity?
Imagine that! Work with non-profit organizations by communicating with their donor base and offering them all a personalized website package of their own.
Of course, a percentage of the revenue generated goes to the special cause being promoted on their web pages. This type of networking is not only limited to non-profit organizations, but can also be used for families that are fundraising for adoption and to pay for infertility treatments.
What do they do with these personalized fundraising web pages?
It gives people empowerment to go on a mission to find and help specific fundraising events. By harnessing the power of everyone who is raising hte money for adoption or IF Treatment, thousands of people are promoting and raising funds with a personalized web page of their own. They are given the ability to provide website packages to others, it grows virally and rapidly. This idea serves as a unique vehicle of spreading the word about their special cause. It also generates traffic to the non-profit orgnaizations' or fundraiser's main websites and donation pages. That's powerful!
You must work as a team with the right domain registry who sells domains, websites, a site-builder with instructions, hosting and a proven affiliate compensation program. You must also make sure you follow all local, state, and federal laws in the process. Do it right, for crying out loud!
Not only does traffic get directed to the non-profit organizations' websites, which will ignite more donations, but when it is setup properly, a percentage of the revenue generated by the monthly cost of the website can generate commissions. The website owners can elect to earn cash back or have the proceeds donated to their charity.
How do they generate the revenue? Oh, that's easy. By simply giving their website address to friends, relatives, associates, fellow supporters and contacts in their social networks, they are promoting their special cause, while simultaneously giving others the ability to own their own charity web pages and do the same. What a wonderful way to support your favorite charity and build it virally, enabling everyone to give more time and money through the power of leveraging!
Registering their own personalized website allows people, who have run out of time and money, to be able to continue helping their favorite charity. Think about it. When thousands of people own their own personalized charity web pages, it enables everyone to leverage support, raise funds and accomplish their personal goals of helping the causes that are near and dear to their hearts.
Again, in addition to raising funds, the revenue generated by the monthly cost of owning their website gives people the choice of earning cash back or having the proceeds donated to their charity.
The more people who have web pages like this, the more time and money is raised for charity. It is also the solution to contributing to specific fundraising events that can only raise so much money because of limited capacity.
Many people are getting their own personalized web page to support their special cause. We can start a movement and raise considerable awareness for special causes.
Please send an email to me at pamela (at) lotsalucases.ws if you are interested in becoming a part of this movement.

Yes, I'm bad, I know it...
I've been very very bad about keeping up with this blog. I'm horrible I know...
Things are busy busy around our house. Michael is walking and Nathan is trying to walk. Both are starting to get their molars. Michael has two on the bottom and 1 just starting to poke through the top. Nathan has two on the top. Jack is 4 1/2 going on 14. He's smart as a whip and has an attitude to match. Where did my sweet little boy go? Most of the time he loves school, but there are times when it's a trial to get him to go. Now that they are learning to write and have a more structured school day, he has decided that school is not fun anymore. All I can say is... Welcome to the next 13+ years of your life buddy...LOL
Here are some recent pictures... I haven't pulled the ones off the camera from Christmas yet. I'll put those in my next post.
These are from the Gautier Christmas Parade.

Fall Festival Time
It's that time of year where there is something going on almost every weekend. This weekend is the Fall Festival at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Biloxi and the Mullet Festival in Gautier.
The weather here has cooled off and the rain has finally made its way out of here. So, we headed out to the Fall Festival yesterday. Got a few pics of the boys and I even got into one. I know, amazing! Those who know me, and might even love me, KNOW I hate having my picture made. Jack got a little Jack size pumpkin, did the been bag toss and ate lots of baked goods. A 4yo hyped up on sugar. YEAH!
It's our plan to head out to the Mullet Festival when the boys get up from their naps.
Here are just a few pics from our day...
Here's our happy little man!
Michael is a happy boy too, he's just playing shy...LOL
All three boys looking at the camera. You can't ask for more than that!
Jack and his favorite pumpkin.
Michael sportin' his Levi's!
All my handsome men!
The whole family, not an easy task...LOL

We're in TROUBLE NOW!
Michael is now flying solo and Nathan is right behind him. On the same day that Michael took off walking, Nathan started pulling up to stand at the coffee table. It won't be long now and Nathan will be toddling along right behind him.
On a side note...
Jack was wearing the outfit you see here on Nathan just a year ago. Jack was 3yo, Nathan is 10mo. BIG BOY!

Just a little perspective...
Today I dressed Nathan in an outfit that Jack was wearing a year ago, and it was a little snug. Jack was 3yo... Nathan is almost 10mo. Nuff Said!
Milestones
We've achieved a couple of milestones this week!
Nathan has achieved forward motion. He has already been skillfully motivating himself around the room by rolling. It was amazing to watch because he looked like a one of those Chinese acrobats the way he got around. However, if something was right in front of him, he always had to get to it in a round about way. Now he can make a beeline straight for it. He has mastered the LOW CRAWL.
Michael is almost 16mo and has not yet mastered walking unassisted. It's not that he doesn't have the skill set, he just doesn't have the confidence. He'll walk anywhere holding on to one finger. Last night he too 4-5 steps unassisted and today I caught him on video. He only takes two steps before he realizes what he's doing and sits down. But at least we now have proof on video.

What a Difference a Year Makes
A year ago today, I was laying in a bed at Ocean Springs hospital waiting on an ambulance to take me to USA Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile. I was 26w3d pregnant with my son and in pre-term labor. I so clearly remember the look on my OB's face when he told me he was sending me to the hospital and ordering an ambulance to take me to Mobile. He was trying hard to keep me calm and I managed to keep from falling apart. Jeff was home with Jack and Michael. Luckily, I have good friends that changed their lives around for us that day. Melody left work and came to the house to stay with the boys until someone could come get them. When her husband got home from work to stay with her son, Karen went to the hospital to pick up my van and then went to my house to get the boys and take them home with her. My sister immediately book a flight out the next day and my mom packed up what she could of her life and drove down the next morning. No one knew for sure how long I'd be in there or if I'd be able to hold on to our son. The next 8 weeks moved at a snails pace, but God smiled upon us and there were no changes and labor did not progress.
Nathaniel Blake Lucas was born by c-section December 1, 2008 at 37w1d. He was 6lbs 9oz and beautiful! He had an issue with fluid on his lungs, so he spent 9 days in the NICU in Gulfport. But once he came home, he never looked back.
Today he is 9 1/2 mo, 23lbs 13oz, 30 3/4in tall, and in the 95th percentile for growth. He is happy, healthy, content and our precious gift.
Thank you to all my friends and family who did their best to make those 8 weeks as easy on Jeff and I as it could be.

Ok... Ok... Ok....
I know I said I'd be better about posting to the blog and I really intended to be better. I did, really, I promise... But just think, now you get one BIG post with pictures, video and updates.
Nathan turned 7mo on July 1st. I swear he just gets bigger every time I look at him. He has 4 teeth now. He looks at the food we are eating and licks his lips. LOL I swear he'd probably eat a chicken leg if he could get it in his mouth. He's still a very happy baby and rarely cries. He loves for ANYONE to talk to him and is turning into quite the flirt. He's not stitting up completely on his own, but is trying very hard. He just gets so excited he falls right over.
Michael turned 13mo on July 5th. He's not walking unassisted yet, but he is cruising the furniture, crawling and he is getting very independent. He's eating anything we put in front of him and is self feeding very well. We are teaching him sign language like we did Jack and he is using the sign for more. I know he understands Milk and Eat but he hasn't started using them yet. He has 6 teeth, 2 bottom and 4 on top. Two of the top ones are just starting to peek through the gums.
Jack will turn 4yo on July 10th. Where has all the time gone. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home from Mobile. He finished up his Soccer season this past Saturday and is very proud of his trophy. We'll be having his birthday party on Saturday July 11th at a place called Kangarooz in D'Iberville. It's an inflatable bounce place and it's HUGE. A few little friends, pizza, cake and ice cream. What more could a 4yo want? Right? We intend to get him a bike for his birthday.

What Nathan thinks about peas...
GOAL!!!! Ok, he doesn't quite understand the concept of not using his hands. But he'll get it!
Mobile Michael... he's on the lose and it's only a matter of time folks.

Just a couple of new pictures...
Michael asleep standing up. I wish I could have gotten around to get a picture of his face. Yes, he really is asleep. He has started pulling up and cruising around the furniture. This was nap time and he spent a good part of it cruising around his crib. At least until sleep won out over his obsession.
Here is Dr. Koulianos with Nathan. We all worked so hard to get Nathan here and we have this man and his wonderful staff to thank. I especially thank Dr. K for not giving up on me!

My how time flies!
Can you believe it? Michael will be 1yo in a little over a week. June 5th is Michael's 1st birthday and it just doesn't seem like it should be here yet. He's crawling all over the house and starting to stand and cruise. He'll be walking before you know it and we'll be in all sorts of trouble then...LOL He is an incredible mimic and will repeat back just about any sound you give him. I'm sure he'll be quite a talker. He's a happy boy and has the most infectious laugh. He looks at you with those big brown eyes and you can't help but fall in love with him all over again. The 1st year of his life has gone by so fast and I feel like I've missed so much of it.
Nathan will be 6mo on Monday June 1st. He's SO BIG and just such a happy baby. He rarely cries and just has the most pleasant personality. We've been blessed to have 3 very happy boys, but Nathan is just beyond happy. He wakes up happy, he goes to bed happy, he's happy when he's hungry, sleepy, has a dirty diaper... In fact really the only time he cries is when he has a gas bubble. Of course, I'd cry then too. He's a very social bug and loves to be talked too and talk back to you. He loves other babies and will smile & laugh if he sees them on the TV or in person. He's very active and thinks his bouncer is the best thing every. He's starting to try to sit up, but he gets so excited and starts kicking and falls backwards...LOL
Jack is such a big boy. Since starting pre-school back in February he has really matured. His can still be a bit shy around strangers, but it doesn't last long. His talking has improved and you can understand him much better now. He's getting more indepenent and will tell you what's what, even when you don't want him to do it. He's still a lover boy and wants to cuddle with his momma and often asks to be held like a baby. I try to get the little ones down so we have some quiet time together before bed. Right now he is spending the week at Grandma's and we miss him terribly. He'll be home on Friday though. :)
I know I've not been great about keeping up the blog. I'll try to be more deligent in the future.
You know your little one isn't feeling well when...
He passes out not just once...
But TWICE in one day.
This is soooo unlike him. Usually he only sleeps in his crib or in the carseat in a moving car. Poor little man has the nasty cold that daddy brought home from work. Mommy has it too... UGH!

I Love My Boys
As is often the case, while sitting in the back of a class, my mind wanders to memories of my little dudes. Tonight is no exeption. I love you Jack, Michael and Nathan. Thank you, Pam, for keeping it all together. OXOX

Nathan is changing SO FAST...
It's amazing how quickly babies change. As you already know, Nathan is growing by leaps and bounds. He's definitely a BIG BOY. He has his two bottom teeth and is on the verge of sitting up on his own. If he didn't get so excited he would probably be sitting up by now. Night before last, he rolled over from back to front for the first time. He was so mad when he couldn't figure out how to get back over. He really loves Baby Einstein videos. He stares intently, like he's really taking it all in and absorbing every little bit. He still has bright blue eyes. But, his hair seems to change between blonde and red almost daily. Here are a couple of pics for your viewing pleasure...
As promised...
I finally got some pictures of Michael and his new teeth. I'm really loving the snaggle tooth look of only 1 tooth on top. Lately Michael has learned a few new tricks...
Just in the past week he has started playing Patty Cake on cue. He will also give big slopply kissed if you ask for one... and sometimes even if you don't ask for it. He's a big loverboy and likes to lay his head on your shoulder and will rub on your arm or your back. We have been so blessed with our three sweet loving boys.

This is Miss Madeline
While I'm not "officially" in business right now, one of my favorite customers called up to let me know they were expecting their second child. I did their maternity and newborn photographs for their 1st daughter Isabella. Well the begged and groveled... well not really... but they did ask really nice, so I agreed to take newborn pics of their newest addition Madeline. It takes me longer than normal to get things proofed. So here is a quickie peak for them.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

He's HUGE!!!!!
We went to a playdate at the Children's Park in Ocean Springs on Monday after preschool. As we were entering the park a lady with a baby stopped to talk to a friend of mine. I asked her how old her son was and she said 5mo. I looked down at Nathan and said, he'll be 5mo on the 1st. As my 12mo sat there looking up at her sporting his 12mo sized outfit. She looked down at him and went "He's HUGE!" That's my boy! Now granted, her 5mo was a little thing. But I wish I had my camera with me to take a picture of them side by side. It would have been HILARIOUS!
Michael and Nathan are now wearing the same size clothes Michael is still a little larger and is on the top end of the size. However, Nathan is coming up fast and furious...LOL

Teeth are popping out all over!!!!
Michael has been actively teething since he was 3.5mo. If you didn't have a bib on him, he totally soaked himself and we go through 6-8 bibs a day on him. Well, in the last couple of weeks he has finally popped out two bottom teeth and one top tooth with the other one showing under the sking. He is now 10.5mo, so it has taken him 7mo of teething to get those teeth out.
Nathan, on the other hand, is 4.5mo and has popped out TWO bottom teeth. No muss, no fuss... just POOF they appeared. He was chewing on his hand today, so I stuck my finger in there to rub his bums and he bit me...LOL
I'll post some pictures as soon as I get a chance to take a few.

This is Maddie...
This was a post to my photography message board and was written by the mother of this little girl. I wanted more people to see it, so I'm passing it on here. Her name is Maddie Cathcart.
------------------------------------------
Maddie is in this video...
This is Maddie. She is a public speaker. She has spoken in front of her school, in front of our local high school, she even made a video for YouTube. She has been asked and accepted the job of a youth ambassador for our local ASK recourse center - where she will go into grade schools and talk about acceptance for those children that are different from others and can not speak for themselves.
Maddie gets up and speaks to all these people even though the whole time she is speaking you can tell she herself is different. Maddie is 10 years old and has Tourette’s syndrome.
Only 1 in 2000 children has Tourette's syndrome and only 1 out of 4 of those are girls. Needless to say Maddie has very little contact with children like herself. This year Maddie would like to attend the national TS camp, cost of this camp is $495 - out of our price range with all the medical bills I had with the Crohn's, the fact that I hardly worked this last year doesn't help either. So Maddie has decided to send herself to camp this year and she hopes to raise enough money to send at least on more child to camp besides herself, so her goal is to raise $1000. She is going to local businesses asking for donations to be made in her name to the Tourette's Syndrome Camp Organization.
If you would like to help Maddie reach her goal of $1000 you can donate straight to the organization here: Donations after you send your donation please email me a copy of your donation receipt at deanna@dcartphoto.com I will forward all receipts on to Scott so we can keep track of how much Maddie is bringing in. If you don’t let us know that you sent a donation in Maddie’s name then she will not get credit for the funds.
TS camp is so great for these kids. Most of them have no other chance to meet kids like themselves. Here is a link to a great video shot by the Chicago Tribune where TS kids tell talk about going to TS camp and what it has done for them: Video

Them BIG 'OL Lucas Boys
Today was Nathan's 4mo appt and Michael's 10mo appt. Michael is weighing in at an impressive 20lbs 8oz and 27 3/4 inches tall. However, Nathan is coming up fast and is weighing in at 17lbs even and 25 2/4 inches tall. That puts him at 75% for height and, get this, 95% for his weight. Yeah, you got that part... he's a porker and if he keeps growing at this rate, he'll catch up to Michael by the time he is 6mo. Poor Michael has a cold.He woke up with a lovely coating a dried snot all over the lower half of his face and he just looks miserable. The dr was kind enough to give us some sample meds for him. He's on Brovex 1/2 tsp 3x a day. So far it seems to be helping. He hasn't really slept for his afternoon nap because all the neighbors have decided to mow their lawns today. Hopefully he'll sleep good tonight and start feeling a lot better tomorrow. Jack's last three T-ball games have been rained out. Two of them have been rescheduled for the week after next. Next week is Spring Break around here, so most folks are out of town.
We'll get some more pictures and videos up as soon as we can.

Don't you just know, that if we could understand what they are saying, they'd be able to tell us the cure for cancer.

Hi's This Week
Jack played a great game of t-ball Tuesday without the usual drama.
All three of my boys continue to wake up healthy and happy.
I had to edit this to add that I am so thrilled that Baby Jonah is going home on Monday!
Lo's This Week
I have a heavy heart for baby Stellan and his fight. (see Pray fot Stellan link on the right.)
